Basic Purpose of Job:
Maintain and repair tools, equipment, and machines. Physical duties include the ability to do the following: maintain balance on uneven terrain and ballast for short distances; have bilateral dexterity; maintain hands and arms in set position with minimal tremor; climb, as occasionally needed on steps and ladders to board equipment; lift/carry and push/pull objects weighing between 50 lbs. and 150 lbs; bend and stoop, and stand or sit for more than half of the work day with the opportunity to change positions periodically.

Applicants must have the ability to effectively and accurately understand, interpret, reference, evaluate, organize, and record non-technical and technical information.

Applicants must be able and willing to understand and apply safety rules, practice safe work habits, identify safety risks, and avoid potentially risky behaviors and situations.
|
Applicants must have the ability to perform basic arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and conversion of fractions into decimals and decimals into fractions to solve practical problems. In addition, applicants must be able to extract relevant information from tables, charts, graphs, and text.

Applicants must have the ability to use both high precision (for example, calipers, electronic scales) and low precision (for example, tape measures, hand levels) instruments to get accurate measurements.

| Preferred Education, Training, Experience or Skills: |
|
Associate's degree in electronics, control systems, AC/DC motors, diesel technology, electrical components, or mechanics OR a minimum of two years of verifiable electrical or mechanical work experience with motorized equipment (e.g., heavy equipment, farm equipment, construction equipment, trucks, ships, airplanes, trains).

| Work Conditions: |
|
Must wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety boots, hard hats, and hearing protection where the company requires. While some of the work may be performed in a shop, the majority of the job is done outdoors. They will be working:
- Occasionally at heights of 20 feet or more above the ground.
- Outside with exposure to all weather conditions.
- With, on, and around moving and rotating heavy equipment.
- In confined spaces.
- Away from home for several days or weeks at a time, with travel constituting 95-100% of the position.
- Schedules that may consist of the following (or variations thereof): five 8-hour days/ 2 days off; four 10-hour days/ 3 days off; or ten 8-hour days followed by accumulated rest days.
- Forty-hour workweeks that may include variable shifts with overtime and work on rest days, holidays, and weekends.
