Assist in the installation, repair and maintenance of various railroad signals and grade crossing warning devices. Physical duties require the ability to do the following: make quick and accurate movements; maintain exact and steady arm/hand positioning movements; perform a rapid, horizontal hand torque action; lift/carry and push/pull objects weighing 25 lbs. (frequently), 50 lbs. (occasionally) and 75 lbs. (infrequently); climb poles, ladders and large structures and maintain balance while working on equipment (occasionally); dig holes and trenches; set poles; sweep between rails and switches; lift and maneuver heavy objects overhead (infrequently); walk for varied distances on uneven terrain (typically 3-5 miles per week); maintain muscular exertion over time; perform occasional overhead work for short periods of time; perform occasional bending, stooping and kneeling; and stand for more than half of a work day with break periods.
ALL accepted employees, including furloughed employees, offered an Intercraft transfer for the Assistant Signal Person will be required to sign a Transfer Agreement. Employees signing the Transfer Agreement will relinquish and terminate all seniority rights in his/her previous craft and establish a new seniority date in the new craft. An employee's relinquishment of his/her seniority rights in his/her current craft is a condition for acceptance of the transfer offer. Failure to properly complete and sign the Transfer Agreement will result in rejection of the employee's offer.
The company reserves the right to reject or limit the number of transfer opportunities for any reason, including, but not limited to, the needs of the Company's service and the continued safe and efficient operation of trains.
