Basic Purpose of Job:

The Account Representative (AR) is the primary customer interface with small to medium-sized accounts. The Account Representative is responsible for: 1) Developing detailed knowledge of the customers' transportation needs. 2) Developing action plans to maximize Union Pacific's participation in that customer's business, 3) Coordinating company resources to fulfill customer requirements. 4) Achieving assigned revenue, profit and customer satisfaction targets.

This is an entry level Marketing & Sales position in the Market Development Sales Center (MDSC). We are currently hiring for the next MDSC class which will begin October 14, 2010. Undergraduate degree is required, with a 3.0 GPA. Transcripts will be required at time of interview.

Accountabilities:

  • Complete prescribed number of sales calls each day.

  • Effectively implement strategies within account base to ensure customer requirements are understood, developed and responded to in a timely manner.

  • Maintain and increase existing business and achieve sales objectives in terms of revenue, price enhancement, market share and profitability while prospecting new business.

  • Coordinate Team UP effort to meet customer requirements.

  • Develop and maintain appropriate reports, documentation and customer correspondence.

  • Advise customers of new technology and policies that better meet customer service requirements.

  • Quarterback resolution of customer issues.

  • Initiate customer sales calls in accordance with monthly call schedule.

  • Meet customer satisfaction targets.

Preferred Education, Training, Experience or Skills:

  • A Bachelor Degree in Business related field

  • 1 year(s) experience / knowledge in Marketing and Sales previous experience is helpful

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office

  • Basic sales skills previous sales experience helpful
