College Recruiting

At Union Pacific, our strength is our team of more than 45,000 individuals. We build on this strength by recruiting diverse individuals and cultivating an environment of opportunity and inclusion, where everyone can contribute his or her unique skills and talents. Our college recruiting program is one of the ways we seek to hire and retain those with high-quality entry-level talent.

To help us identify individuals for open positions, UP has formal relationships with colleges and programs. We also sponsor and participate in a variety of recruiting events and career fairs.  

On-Campus Recruiting

Union Pacific schedules hiring events at college campuses from mid-September through the beginning of November and again in the spring. These events are great opportunities to visit with recruiters and to ask specific questions. This map shows our anticipated schedule by location.

If Union Pacific comes to your campus and you express interest in our positions, you should apply through your career services.  After an application is submitted, you may be extended a first-round interview. If that interview is successful, you will be invited to a second-round interview at Union Pacific’s headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska.

Applying Online

If Union Pacific does not visit your college campus, you may apply online for one of our posted positions. This process takes about 30 minutes and allows you to submit your resume with the online application. When you are done, you will be able to check your application status online.
