Interview/Testing

How will I find out about my interview?

If you have applied for a union position, there are two ways you will be contacted for an interview. First, your web status will be updated to "Invited to Hiring Session." When you click on those words, you will receive the time and location of your interview. Second, you will receive a phone call informing you of the update. When we call you, we use the phone number you supplied on your application. So please make sure it's a number where you can readily be reached.

If you have applied for a non-union position, you will receive a phone call.

How should I prepare for the interview?

Your attire should be business casual. Wear something comfortable. You might have to take a test before you interview. Our tests are designed to evaluate your current knowledge, so there is no study help available. Different positions require different testing.  Tests are often administered at a hiring session, or in advance at a third-party testing facility.  Some tests and locations require you pay a nominal fee.  At hiring sessions, a group of people are invited to each Hiring Session. You should plan to spend the majority of the day there.

If I am offered a job, when will I start?

If you are offered a job on the Train Crew (as a Switchperson or Brakeperson), you will be given information about your training class (if available) when you complete your new employee paperwork.

If you are offered any other position, you will be contacted by a local manager, who will tell you your start date. Contact might take up to 30 days depending on the job and location.
