Where We Operate

Headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, Union Pacific operates more than 32,000 route miles in the western two-thirds of the United States. As North America's largest railroad, Union Pacific supports the nation's economy by linking the country's fastest-growing population centers in 23 states, including every major West Coast and Gulf Coast port. Union Pacific serves the eastern United States through four major gateways in Chicago, St. Louis, Memphis and New Orleans. We operate key north/south corridors, interchanging traffic with Canadian rail systems. And we're the only railroad to serve all six major gateways to Mexico. From Abraham Lincoln's vision of a transcontinental railroad, to the settling of the American West, through the Industrial Revolution to today, Union Pacific has delivered the raw materials and finished goods that have built our nation's economy.
